2011 Lincoln MKX – Heated Steering Wheel Option

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

The Lincoln brand known for quality continues to woo new customers with creature comforts often dreamed about in a vehicle but rarely realized–that is until now. The 2011 Lincoln MKX not only offers extraordinary features like MYLincoln Touch driver connect technology, MyKey Intelligent Access with Push-button Start and Easy Fuel, adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support and Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, but now offer as a option what each driver that has ever started a vehicle on a frigid winter day has longed for: a heated steering wheel.

The MKX, a midsize crossover with a suggested MSRP of $38,845 is designed with customer comfort in the forefront. With that in mind designers went to work brainstorming the needs of its customers. Pouring over group surveys and market research, designers decided to offer MKX drivers something Moms have always offered: a way to keep warm on a cold day and tailored this option in the form of a heated steering wheel.

While it is a no-brainer that on a cold morning wearing gloves will keep both hands on the wheel instead of alternating one in a warm pocket and then the other; wearing gloves can make steering unsafe. Gripping the steering wheel properly will help ensure safe driving. The left hand should be between 7 & 9 o’clock positions and the right between 3 & 5 o’clock positions. This aids in keeping both hands on the steering wheel at all times; gloves can cause hands to slip off.

Not only will the heated steering wheel do away with the need for gloves while driving but it also keeps the driver’s mind on the road and instead of the cold. Giving consumers all the comforts of home without taking away from driver focus on the road is a goal Ford continues to offer to its customer base.
