Justin McDaniel was just 22 years old when he won his first bareback riding world championship in 2008 in just his second time qualifying for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

Now 24, he’s a veteran of the sport, a four-time NFR qualifier — playing on the biggest stage in the sport of rodeo during the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association grand championship. He’s won more than $826,000 in just five seasons in ProRodeo and continues to be one of the elite cowboys in the sport.

But Justin McDaniel is much more than a bareback rider. In fact, he’s a very talented bull rider. In 2005, he won the bareback riding rookie of the year and earned enough money riding bulls to finish second in the rookie all-around race.

Oh, yeah, and that’s the same year in which he graduated high school.

He also owns two NFR records: His 859 aggregate total from the 2008 championship is the most ever in bareback riding, and 2007 ride aboard J Bar J Ranch’s Delta Ship for 91.5 points is the highest NFR score — the latter Justin shares with three-time world champion Will Lowe.

But there’s so much more to Justin McDaniel. He travels the rugged rodeo trail with 16-year veteran D.V. Fennell, and he dreams of becoming the first roughstock hand to win the most coveted prize in rodeo — the all-around gold buckle — since the legendary Ty Murray did so in 1998.
